Social Studies PDF Print E-mail

The primary goal of social studies program is to present students with the skills and knowledge needed to be effective participants in their environment. Social Studies is multidisciplinary.  It draws upon single disciplines such as anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, religion and sociology.  It is about exploring the cultures, ideas, and beliefs of our past and present world.  The students will develop an understanding and respect for the world’s multiple cultures and demonstrate an appreciation of cultural diversity.

Children will have opportunities to learn about the American experience, United States Regions, historical movements, and an introduction to the many cultures that make up the world.  Topics of study are chosen and developed based on students' stages of growth and the landscape of our changing world.  The goal is for the students to learn a variety of academic and practical skills and become capable in a wide range of life situations.
