Ms. Carrie Monty I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to teach in this school. I look at this as a wonderful ministry and opportunity. I have worked in education for over twenty years and enjoy engaging my students in meaningful activities. I received my Bachelors Degree from Bridgewater State College. I also completed Post-Bachelors courses in Middle School Curriculum at Bridgewater State as well. I hold three professional licenses from the DOE, one in Middle School Teaching (Generalist), the other two in Middle and High School History. I received a Masters in Education with a concentration in Middle School from Fitchburg State College in 2003. I have completed post-graduate work in geography and am a certified consultant for the National Geographic Society. I have also completed the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) seminar at Clark University that has allowed me access to great teaching methods and resources! I am a member of the Massachusetts Council for Social Studies (MCSS); and Massachusetts Alliance for Geography (SEMAGNET); which both afford me the connections needed to continually bring enriching activities to the classroom and school. I have also attended various math workshops that are engaging and enriching in presenting math to middle school students. I have been blessed with two wonderful children; my daughter, Andrea who is a pharmacist and resides in Florida with her husband Marc. Also, my son David who is a full-time firefighter/paramedic for the town of Westminster, along with being an IT/Communication Tech for the Westminster Police and town as needed. I have a Golden Retriever named Jake. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my first grandchild later this fall of 2009. I love the ocean, traveling to historical places, reading, and gardening. I am originally from the south shore of Massachusetts and have lived in this area in Westminster for ten years. |
