GRANDPARENT'S DAY We want to celebrate all of our amazing Grandparents with a special Mass at school on On TUESDAY, October 25th at 9:00 AM, Most Reverend Robert J. McManus, Bishop of Worcester, will be the principle celebrant at the mass on Grandparent's Day. We look forward to honoring all of our amazing Grandparents. Grandparents (or a special grandparent fill in- aunt, uncle, God parent, etc.) are welcome to bring their grandchild to school at 8:30 that morning and briefly visit the classroom. We will all head over to Mass together to be there for 9:00. Grandchildren will sit with their grandparents during Mass and we will have refreshments after Mass. Grandparents are welcome to walk their grandchildren back to school to visit the Book Fair or say their good byes in the lobby. It is important for you to RSVP with the number of Grandparent's attending so we can plan the food accordingly. Unfortunately, there is no room for parents at this event... However, we would love to have you help make this event a success. We are looking for parents that can volunteer on Monday, October 24th after school to cut fruit at the church kitchen (bring your favorite paring knife!!!) and for parents to help with setting up coffee on Tuesday morning. If you are interested in helping, please email Mrs. Kenney at nskenney@verizon.net BULLYING AWARENESS MONTH October is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Month. We have Eileen Miller from DA Early's office coming out to present programs to all students in grades K-8 this month. Grades 4-8 will have their programs on October 18th and K-3 on October 24th. Please help spread the word to your family, friends and neighbors. SOCKS FOR SANTA The grade 3 students have begun a 3 month service project in which we will be collecting white cotton or thermal socks or cotton underwear to be distributed to homeless shelters, women’s shelters, and the elderly of our community. We often don’t realize or simply forget that those in need have needs other than food. Please consider helping those who are in need of socks or underwear for the cold winter ahead. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS We are starting to plan our next after school program session that would run from November 14- January 20 and are looking for volunteers that may be interested in running any of the programs- we have ideas and are always open to new ideas too. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer please let Mrs. French know. We try to limit the offerings so students do not have to choose between two things offered on the same days. We are looking for a couple of programs for younger students and a couple for the older students as well. We will be offering two more sessions this year as well if this timing doesn't work out for you. VIRUS It is that time of year that virus' are going around school. We currently have several cases of Hand Foot Mouth Disease at St. Anna's. This virus presents with a fever and red bumps/blisters on the hands, feet and in the mouth. It can cause a sore throat. Please monitor your child for any symptoms. It is imperative that children running a fever or have any of these symptoms remain at home to prevent the spread of this virus. If you have any concerns- please contact your child's physician. Cafe Corner October Lunch Menu Orders can be placed until 7am on the day of the meal at www.orderlunches.com Don't forget you can also order milk to go with home lunches- you can either order on-line or by sending in your milk money weekly or monthly to the office in an envelope marked with your child(ren)'s name.
