We have finished another very busy week at St Anna School! We have had our fill of Halloween festivities, Celebrated All Saints' Day with a special Mass, Saint presentations by the 4th and 5th graders and various other activities in the classrooms. We also practiced evacuating from the school busses if we were ever in an emergency and we finished the week off by celebrating all of our service people and Veteran's. Thank you to all that came out to our annual program this morning.
Please note there will be NO School Masses on November 16 and November 30 as Father Fred will be on vacation.
There has also been a change in date for the Christmas Concert. The PK-3 Christmas Concert will take place on Wednesday, December 21st at 1:30.
SOCKS FOR SANTA
The second and third grade students have begun a 2 ½ month service project in which we will be collecting white cotton or thermal socks or cotton underwear to be distributed to homeless shelters, women’s shelters, and the elderly of our community. We often don’t realize or simply forget that those in need have needs other than food.
It is our hope that each student in grades two through eight might participate by bringing a small package of socks or underwear each month (Oct., Nov., Dec.) to be collected by the second and third grade students and distributed to the appropriate agency for distribution to residents who live in our school community area.
Please consider helping those who are in need of socks or underwear for the cold winter ahead.
A small package of socks or underwear each month is a small price to pay for knowing that the elderly in our neighborhoods are going to be warm this winter.
Thank You from the second and third grade students of St. Anna Catholic School
Please join the Friends of St. Anna PTO to ring in the Advent season with a Family Advent Wreath making night on November 18th from 6:00-7:00 at the church hall. The cost is only $10 per family and includes the supplies for making your live greenery wreath (candles are not provided). We are asking that families pre-register here before November 10th so we have an accurate count for supplies. We hope you can join us!
HEARTS FOR HEAT
The grade 6-7-8 students are planning their annual service project to raise funds through a Thanksgiving Bake Sale for families of our parish who may be in need of assistance this year in the purchase of home heating oil.
They plan to sell homemade baked goods to members of the school community who come to parent-teachers conferences on Monday, Nov. 21st and Tuesday, Nov. 22nd.
All profits from this endeavor go directly to the purchase of oil through Fraticelli. Last year we were able to provide almost $700.00 from the bake sale towards this goal.
If you are willing and able to bake a cake, cupcakes, pie, cookies, breads, or any other “sweet” which the students can sell during parent conferences, please contact Mrs. Priddy
or send in the sign up form.
And don't forget to stop by the sale when you come to conferences! Lots of delicious treats for everyone.
Our Annual Turkey Trot will take place on Tuesday, November 22nd at 9:30.
Students in grades K-2 will run laps around the lawn across the street where we now have some gym classes. Mr. Farnsworth will have a 'track' marked with cones. Volunteers help tally the number of laps they complete while they are cheered on by the preschoolers and older students.
Students in grades 3-8 then complete their turkey trot race on a route that goes from the in front of the church, down sixth street, across middle and eventually finishes back in front of the church where the other students are able to cheer them on as they cross the finish! ALL students in K-8 are welcome to sign up to race. There is no fee; however we ask that everyone brings in a non-perishable food item to help restock the St. Anna food pantry. Mrs. Priddy is also looking for helpers to supervise along the route or track the younger students' laps. Please email her if you’re able to help that morning.
Please sign up your child if they plan on participating in the trot!
Conferences will be held on Monday, November 21st from 12-3 and in the evening until 7:30; Tuesday, November 22nd from 12-3; some teachers will offer before and after school appointments the week before. You will be able to schedule your conference through Option C beginning on November 8th.
Conferences can be scheduled with your child's academic teachers. If for some reason you would like to meet with a specialist teacher you can contact them via email to arrange a time to meet.
Extended care will be open both afternoons. Please let Mrs. Walsh or the office know if you will be using extended care either of those days. It is $35 per child (and $15 for each additional sibling). Children must bring their own lunch.
Winter Uniforms have begun... Please refer to the Parent Student Handbook for more information. Some important notes:
GIFT CARDS MAKE GREAT GIFTS-- St. Anna PTO - Great Lake Scrips Gift Card Program
The St. Anna PTO will once again offer "One Stop Shopping" for all of your Christmas Gift Card needs! You can order all of your gift cards in one place, at one time and they are delivered directly to the school. No running from store to store or standing in long lines. You can also order gift cards and use them for your everyday purchases. Stock up on Dunkin Donuts, Panera or Starbucks cards and use them to purchase your morning coffee.
Please visit www.shopwithscrip.com to create an online account. Detailed instructions can be found on the school website.
