"Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."
~ Oprah Winfrey
Dear SACS Families,
We have been blessed with beautiful fall weather this season. It was more like winter this time last year. Just a reminder, we will start the Winter Dress Code on Tuesday, December 1st when we return from the Thanksgiving Break.
We have been embracing the Year of Mercy and accepting Pope Francis’s call for us to be instruments of mercy for the past three months. There are several opportunities for us help those in need over the next few months. The middle school continues to collect items for Socks for Santa, they will also hold their annual Hearts for Heat bake sale next week during conferences and we are also collecting canned goods for the St. Anna Food Bank. Our students are also learning the difference between corporal and spiritual acts of Mercy.
St. Anna Parish's Gifting Tree will be up and filled with tags beginning Sunday, December 4th. You will be able to purchase gifts for children (ages infants to 16 years old) to help families in need in our community this Christmas season.
From all of us at St. Anna, Happy Thanksgiving!
REPORT CARDSReport cards for students in Grades K-8 are on Option C. You will be asked to ‘certify’ that you have read your child’s report card. If you have forgotten your username/password, please email Mrs. French and she will get it to you.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCESConferences are on Monday, November 23rd from 12pm-3pm and in the evening until 7:30pm; Tuesday, November 24th from 12pm-3pm. You can schedule your conference through Option C. You can choose which teachers you would like to have your conference with. For most of you it will be your child’s homeroom teacher. For middle school students, you can sign up to meet with one or more of your child’s teachers. If you want to meet with multiple teachers as a group- please sign up for the same time slot with each teacher. Extended care will be open both afternoons. Please let the office know if you will be using extended care either of those days. It is $35 per child (and $15 for each additional sibling). Children must bring their own lunch.
DESIGN SQUAD -- THANK YOU! Thank you to all of the students who participated in Design Squad. Special thank you to Mrs. Sarah O'Toole and Mrs. Laura Pompei for organizing the event. Thank you to Mr. Keating, Ms. Ellis, Mr. & Mrs. Mullett, Mr. Uschold, Mr. O'Toole, Ms. Mainguy, Mr. Kenney, Mrs. Sebastian, Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Marcello, and our St. Anna Alumni who made this event a huge success! Check out our St. Anna Facebook Page and scroll through the photos!
HEARTS FOR HEATThe 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade will be selling homemade goodies during conferences. The money raised is matched by Fraticelli Oil and used to provide heating fuel to the elderly of the parish who are in need of assistance. Don’t forget to stop by during the day or during conferences to purchase your sweet treats!
TURKEY TROTOur Annual Turkey Trot is Tuesday, November 24th at 9:30am. Students in Grades K-2 will complete laps around the parking lot. We tally the number of laps they are able to complete while they are cheered on by the preschoolers and older students. Students in Grades 3-8 then complete their turkey trot race on a route that goes from in front of the church up Sixth Street and down a few side streets and back up Darwin to finish in front of the church again where the other students are able to cheer them on as they cross the finish! ALL students in K-8 are welcome to sign up to race. There is no fee; however we ask that everyone brings in a non-perishable food item to help restock the St. Anna food pantry. Mrs. Priddy is also looking for helpers to supervise along the route. Please email her if you’re able to help that morning. To sign up go to the google form:http://goo.gl/forms/VnhfdUh6iY
#MAKE A DIFFERENCEThe 5th grade is embracing the Year of Mercy and accepting Pope Francis’s call for us to be instruments of mercy by supporting the Wounded Warriors organization through Operation Gratitude for the month of November. We are asking for donations so that we can put together care packages for those who have been wounded in service to their country, also known as Wounded Warriors. The care packages will be sent to service members recovering in Military Hospitals and Wounded Warrior Transition units located on military bases throughout the United States. For a more information and a list of needed items please check out the flyer here.
SOCKS FOR SANTAGrade 6 is entering their final month of their service project in which they have been collecting white cotton or thermal socks or cotton underwear to be distributed to homeless shelters, women’s shelters, and the elderly of our community. We often don’t realize or simply forget that those in need have needs other than food. Please consider helping those who are in need of socks or underwear for the cold winter ahead.
WINTER UNIFORMSWinter Uniformsl begin Tuesday, December 1st. Please refer to the Parent Student Handbook for more information. Some important notes:
