This has been a difficult week for me and my family and we have been overwhelmed by the support from the St. Anna Community. The children have brought me to tears with their heartfelt condolences. We appreciate all of the cards, emails and endless support we have been shown this past week. There are no words to express our gratitude.
Please note there will be NO School Masses on November 30 as Father Fred will be on vacation.
There has also been a change in date for the Christmas Concert. The PK-5 Christmas Concert will take place on Wednesday, December 21st at 1:30. And yes- the 4th and 5th graders would like to participate in the concert this year!
Parent-Teacher Conferences- LAST CALL
Parent-Teacher Conferences are being held for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade on Monday, November 21 from 12:30-7:00 and Tuesday, November 22 from 12:30-3:00. (these are early release days at 11:30)
You can schedule your child’s conference(s) through Option C. When you log in, there should be a button that says sign up for conferences.
You can schedule conferences to meet with your child’s classroom teacher (K-3). Do NOT sign up for a conference with Mr. Farnsworth.
4th and 5th grade you can schedule a conference with your child’s homeroom teacher and their science/math teacher.
Middle School Parents can choose which subject teachers you feel you need to meet with. (Miss Ellis, Mr. Langley, Mrs. Petty and Mr. Farnsworth)
Mr. Farnsworth is doing parent teacher conferences for 7th grade Math and his 8th grade algebra classes…. Pease do NOT sign up for a conference with Mr. Farnsworth if your child is not in one of his math classes. He is NOT doing conferences for PE.
You have until 7:00AM on November 21st to sign up for conferences. If you need to sign up for a conference after that time- please contact the office.
If you cannot sign up for conferences through Option C- you can contact your child’s teacher or the office and we’d be happy to help you schedule your conferences.
We will have the gifting tree in the lobby during parent teacher conferences for those of you that would like ideas about what your child’s teacher can use for gifts for the classroom. Feel free to take one!
Mark your calendars for this year’s FREE PTO Movie Night! This is our way of saying thank you for all you do to support the PTO all year long! It will be held on Saturday, December 10th from 5:00-8:00. This is a great opportunity for parents to drop off the kids for a quiet dinner or a little Christmas shopping. The kids will enjoy pizza, popcorn, crafts, activities and they will watch “Santa Buddies”. Don’t forget to wear your pj’s and bring a pillow or blanket to get cozy to watch the movie! This even will be supervised by PTO executive board members and NJHS Students. Children aged 3 (and potty trained) and older are welcome to attend….
Please sign up if you plan to have your children attend so we can plan accordingly.
SOCKS FOR SANTA
The second and third grade students have begun a 2 ½ month service project in which we will be collecting white cotton or thermal socks or cotton underwear to be distributed to homeless shelters, women’s shelters, and the elderly of our community. We often don’t realize or simply forget that those in need have needs other than food.
It is our hope that each student in grades two through eight might participate by bringing a small package of socks or underwear each month (Oct., Nov., Dec.) to be collected by the second and third grade students and distributed to the appropriate agency for distribution to residents who live in our school community area.
Please consider helping those who are in need of socks or underwear for the cold winter ahead.
A small package of socks or underwear each month is a small price to pay for knowing that the elderly in our neighborhoods are going to be warm this winter.
Thank You from the second and third grade students of St. Anna Catholic School
HEARTS FOR HEAT
The grade 6-7-8 students are planning their annual service project to raise funds through a Thanksgiving Bake Sale for families of our parish who may be in need of assistance this year in the purchase of home heating oil.
They plan to sell homemade baked goods to members of the school community who come to parent-teachers conferences on Monday, Nov. 21st and Tuesday, Nov. 22nd.
All profits from this endeavor go directly to the purchase of oil through Fraticelli. Last year we were able to provide almost $700.00 from the bake sale towards this goal.
If you are willing and able to bake a cake, cupcakes, pie, cookies, breads, or any other “sweet” which the students can sell during parent conferences, please contact Mrs. Priddy
And don't forget to stop by the sale when you come to conferences! Lots of delicious treats for everyone.
Our Annual Turkey Trot will take place on Tuesday, November 22nd at 9:30.
Students in grades K-2 will run laps around the lawn across the street where we now have some gym classes. Mr. Farnsworth will have a 'track' marked with cones. Volunteers help tally the number of laps they complete while they are cheered on by the preschoolers and older students.
Students in grades 3-8 then complete their turkey trot race on a route that goes from the in front of the church, down sixth street, across middle and eventually finishes back in front of the church where the other students are able to cheer them on as they cross the finish! ALL students in K-8 are welcome to sign up to race. There is no fee; however we ask that everyone brings in a non-perishable food item to help restock the St. Anna food pantry. Mrs. Priddy is also looking for helpers to supervise along the route or track the younger students' laps. Please email her if you’re able to help that morning.
Please sign up your child if they plan on participating in the trot!
School picture re-takes are on Thursday, December 1st - If you missed picture day- you can get an order form from Mrs. Priddy. If your child’s picture did not come out as you’d like, please send them back in and we will have your child’s picture re-taken on this day. EVERYONE has their picture taken so they can be included in the yearbook- whether or not you wish to order any.
CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD
Students in grade preschool through third will participate in Christmas Around the World on Friday, December 9th. They will be learning about how a variety of countries celebrate Christmas. They will visit each classroom and will either complete a craft based on that country’s traditions or have a special snack. Room parents will be organizing this event. Teachers will escort their classes from room to room as our students experience Christmas from around the world!
