Dear SACS Families,I am thankful every day that I get to come to school and spend it with your amazing children. I love seeing the ah ha moments when they learn something new or when they yell “Mrs. French” to get my attention to show me what they are learning. We are blessed to experience this excitement with your children. The next few months give us many opportunities to be thankful and share special times together with children. It is a busy time but take time to reflect on the true meaning of the upcoming holidays.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCESConferences will be held on Monday, November 23rd from 12pm-3pm and in the evening until 7:30pm; Tuesday, November 24th from 12pm-3pm; some teachers will offer before and after school appointments the week before. You can schedule your conference through Option C. You can choose which teachers you would like to have your conference with. For most of you it will be your child’s homeroom teacher. For middle school students, you can sign up to meet with one or more of your child’s teachers. If you want to meet with multiple teachers as a group- please sign up for the same time slot with each teacher.
HEARTS FOR HEATThe 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade will again participate in Hearts for Heat. The students will be baking up goodies available to purchase during conferences. The money raised is matched by Fraticelli Oil and used to provide heating fuel to the elderly of the parish who are in need of assistance. Don’t forget to stop by during the day or during conferences to purchase your sweet treats!
REPORT CARDSReport cards for students in grades k-8 are now available on Option C. You will be asked to ‘certify’ that you have read your child’s report card. If you have forgotten your username/password, please email Mrs. French and she will get it to you.
TURKEY TROTOur Annual Turkey Trot will take place on Tuesday, November 24th at 9:30am. Students in Grades K-2 will complete laps around the parking lot. We tally the number of laps they are able to complete while they are cheered on by the preschoolers and older students. Students in Grades 3-8 then complete their turkey trot on a route that goes from in front of the church up Sixth street and down a few side streets and back up Darwin to finish in front of the church again where the other students are able to cheer them on as they cross the finish! ALL students in K-8 are welcome to sign up to race. There is no fee; however we ask that everyone brings in a non-perishable food item to help restock the St. Anna food pantry. Mrs. Priddy is also looking for helpers to supervise along the route. Please email her if you’re able to help that morning. To sign up go to the google form: http://goo.gl/forms/VnhfdUh6iY
#MAKE A DIFFERENCEThe 5th grade is embracing the Year of Mercy and accepting Pope Francis’s call for us to be instruments of mercy by supporting the Wounded Warriors organization through Operation Gratitude for the month of November. We are asking for donations so that we can put together care packages for those who have been wounded in service to their country, also known as Wounded Warriors. The care packages will be sent to service members recovering in Military Hospitals and Wounded Warrior Transition units located on military bases throughout the United States. For a more information and a list of needed items please check out the flyer here.
FINGERPRINTINGThe Department of Education requires all persons working unsupervised with children in a school setting to be fingerprinted. Safety of our students is always our number one priority. We are requiring all volunteers/coaches that work with children in an unsupervised capacity to be fingerprinted before they can work with the students. This includes basketball coaches, Design Squad volunteers, dance chaperones, etc. There is an agency in Leominster (next to Allen’s) that does the fingerprinting. The cost is $35 and the school will reimburse you at your request once you turn in your fingerprint receipt. For Directions on how to register for your fingerprinting appointment check out the flyer.
SOCKS FOR SANTAGrade 6 students have begun a 3 month service project in which we will be collecting white cotton or thermal socks or cotton underwear to be distributed to homeless shelters, women’s shelters, and the elderly of our community. We often don’t realize or simply forget that those in need have needs other than food. Please consider helping those who are in need of socks or underwear for the cold winter ahead.
WINTER UNIFORMSWinter Uniforms will begin Tuesday, December 1st. Please refer to the Parent Student Handbook for more information. Some important notes:

We are looking for volunteers to coach our basketball teams at different grade levels. Most teams have one practice during the week- depending on the grade level and then a game on the weekend. Grades 1-4 play at St. Anna's on Saturdays. The 5-8 Girls teams play Sundays at Monty Tech. The 5-8 Boys play on Saturdays at St. Bernard's Activity Center. Please sign up if you’re interested: http://goo.gl/forms/irCSdErYyP
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. French or Dennis Donlan, Athletic Director (firstname.lastname@example.org)
We would like to offer this program again this year for students in Grades 3-8. This is an 8 week program which will be held on either Tuesdays. Students can buy an 8 week lift badge just for the school program or use their own season pass if they have one. Rentals of boards, ski’s and helmets are also available. This is a great option for first timers! For a little more information on pricing and how to sign up- check out the flyer.
