Dear SACS Families, Happy Friday everyone. Yesterday all of our students made cards for the family of fallen Officer Thomas Clardy of the MA State Police. As you may know, Father Fraini is the chaplain for the state police and is providing support to the Clardy family in their time of need. Our St. Anna family wanted to share our thoughts and prayers with the family and the students made very nice sympathy and caring cards yesterday. Father will share those with the family in the coming days. Teachers took the opportunity to discuss what Officer Clardy’s family is going through and how Officer Clardy was called home to be with God. This is an example of impromptu religion lessons for our students based on events that happen in our daily lives. It is sometimes tragedies that bring us together as communities and families. Remember to pray for this family in their time of grief and pray that they find comfort in the fact that Thomas has found his way back to Christ. Take time to hug your own children and family members and show them that you love them everyday.
REGISTRATIONTuition rates and new registration forms were emailed home on Monday, February 1st. Copies of the forms are also available on the website or Mrs. Priddy can send them home with your child upon request. We will be extending the registration deadline for current families to April 1st at the $125 fee rate. The tuition fee will increase to $250 on April 1st. We’ve extended the deadline as we realize that some of you are currently taking advantage of the golf tournament early bird registration price and will also be purchasing your Gala tickets. We know it can be difficult to come up with these funds all at once.
ST. ANNA GOLF TOURNAMENT The St. Anna Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 18th at the Townsend Ridge Country Club. Over 140 golfers have registered. Download theentry form or register online here!
'A MEDIEVAL KNIGHT' - THE 18TH ANNUAL GALA The Gala is on Saturday, April 9th at the Knights of Columbus, Leominster and we will be honoring members of the Knights of Columbus and the memory of Mrs. Madeline Girouard. SPRING PICTURESLifetouch will be here on Tuesday, March 22nd to take our spring pictures. This is an OUT OF UNIFORM DAY for the spring portraits. Your child may come to school in their spring best for beautiful portraits. No money is needed at the time of pictures. ALL students will have their pictures taken unless you return the slip and write NO PICTURES on it. Those that have their pictures will receive their portrait package to review in a couple of weeks and then you are able to purchase only the items that you would like.
LIVING STATIONS OF THE CROSSThe middle school students will be presenting the Living Stations of the Cross at our weekly Mass on Wednesday, March 23rd at 9:00. They will also be doing an encore presentation on Good Friday at 3:30. All students in preschool through grade 5 will be attending. Teachers will prepare students by talking about the passion of Christ during their religion lessons.
CHAPERONESSpring field trips will be coming soon and anyone that will want to volunteer to chaperone must have a CORI, safe environment training AND their fingerprinting completed. If you do not complete your fingerprinting, you will not be able to chaperone any of the spring field trip. Fingerprinting will also be required of ALL volunteers next year as well. Please find the fingerprinting instructions here. The school will reimburse you the $35 fee when you return your fingerprinting slip to the office and request reimbursement.
RAFFLE CALENDARMiddle school students are conducting a calendar raffle for the month of April. They will be selling the calendars for $10 each until March 29th. You have the chance to win a different prize each day during the month. If you would like to purchase one, please print the form and return it with your money to the school office before March 29th or see any middle school student! They are raising money to support their spring field trips to New York and Nature’s Classroom.
DESIGN SQUADWould you like to “Dream It, Build It, Live It”?
Students in Grades 3 – 8 are invited to put their math, science and problem solving skills to work at our next Design Squad Event on Saturday, April 2nd from noon to 4pm in the school gym.
Design Squad was started in 2011 by a group of parents that wanted to introduce Engineering to the students at St. Anna’s. The program is based on the PBS Design Squad Series and has been a huge hit with the students over the years. The day consists of 2 engineering projects and one chemistry project. Refreshments and pizza will be available.
All new participants will receive a free Design Squad t-shirt. Returning participants can be purchase a new t-shirt for $10. Calling all parent engineers and volunteers! We need your help to continue this wonderful day for the students. Parent volunteers are assigned to a group of 4-5 students and you work with them throughout the day, guiding them through the different projects.

#MAKE A DIFFERENCEMarch’s Make A Difference focus is on Literacy sponsored by our Preschool! The preschool will be collecting gently used books (we’re asking each child to bring in one book) that will be donated to a local program that provides books to students who do not have access to books at home. At the end of the month, all students will partner with different grade levels to read books together and complete Dr. Seuss related activities to promote the importance of literacy. Book collection bins will be in the lobby all month.
YEARBOOKThe 2015-2016 St. Anna Tiger Yearbook is NOW on sale! Don’t miss out on preserving the memories of another exciting and busy school year. Please fill out and return this order form or the one that was sent home. The deadline to order your yearbook is Monday, March 21st.
I’ve had some inquiries on the increase on the cost of this year’s book. The cost of the book has increased as we use a custom cover and we have added more pages to incorporate more of our amazing events and we sell less than 100 books. The cost of the book to produce is $43. We are able to provide the book for $30 through the selling of 8th grade and business ads. The cost of the St. Anna Yearbook has not increased in the past 10 years.
EASTER MONDAY- No SchoolThere will be no school on Easter Monday. St. Anna’s will be closed on Friday, March 25th for Good Friday and Monday, March 28th for Easter Monday.
THEATRE AT THE MOUNT- HOW I BECAME A PIRATEStudents in grades K-8 will be attending the Theatre at the Mount play “How I Became A Pirate” at Gardner High School on Friday, April 15th at 9:30. Two of our own students (Mary & Elizabeth) will be performing in the play. We will be traveling by bus and need to leave school by 8:45. Students will be dropped off at school at 8:15 that day. The cost of the trip is $10 to help cover the cost of the ticket and a portion of the bus (we need 4 busses!!). The PTO will help pay the additional bus costs.
