Dear SACS Families, We are only 10 days away from the official first day of spring! The sneak peek of warm weather was welcomed this week. The students were extremely happy to get outside for recess on these warm days. It’s amazing the difference a year makes. Last year we were waiting for the snow to melt and this year we’re waiting for the grass, buds and flowers to emerge! It will feel more like Easter and a time of rebirth this spring.
Our staff and students continue to perform acts of kindness during Lent and all year long. Students are earning kindness links for each act of kindness they are caught doing. You will soon see our kindness chains growing around the school.
DESIGN SQUADWould you like to “Dream It, Build It, Live It”?
Students in Grades 3 – 8 are invited to put their math, science and problem solving skills to work at our next Design Squad Event on Saturday, April 2nd from noon to 4pm in the school gym. Design Squad was started in 2011 by a group of parents that wanted to introduce Engineering to the students at St. Anna’s. The program is based on the PBS Design Squad Series and has been a huge hit with the students over the years. The day consists of 2 engineering projects and one chemistry project. Refreshments and pizza will be available.
All new participants will receive a free Design Squad t-shirt. Returning participants can be purchase a new t-shirt for $10. Calling all parent engineers and volunteers! We need your help to continue this wonderful day for the students. Parent volunteers are assigned to a group of 4-5 students and you work with them throughout the day, guiding them through the different projects. We will be extending the registration deadline for current families to April 1st at the $125 fee rate. The tuition fee will increase to $250 on April 1st. We’ve extended the deadline as we realize that some of you are currently taking advantage of the golf tournament early bird registration price and will also be purchasing your Gala tickets. We know it can be difficult to come up with these funds all at once.

RAFFLE CALENDARMiddle school students are conducting a calendar raffle for the month of April. They will be selling the calendars for $10 each until March 29th. You have the chance to win a different prize each day during the month. If you would like to purchase one, please print the form and return it with your money to the school office before March 29th or see any middle school student! They are raising money to support their spring field trips to New York and Nature’s Classroom.
#MAKE A DIFFERENCEMarch’s Make A Difference focus is on Literacy sponsored by our Preschool! The preschool will be collecting gently used books (we’re asking each child to bring in one book) that will be donated to a local program that provides books to students who do not have access to books at home. At the end of the month, all students will partner with different grade levels to read books together and complete Dr. Seuss related activities to promote the importance of literacy. Book collection bins will be in the lobby all month.
BJ’S MEMBERSHIP DRIVEMarch 1-14 is our BJs membership drive. Please see the flyer and application here. This is for new members as well as renewals, so if anyone needs to renew their membership or just wants to extend it by 15 months, now is the time! Only $40 for 15 months and a FREE second card and they donate $5 per card back to St. Anna’s.
YEARBOOKThe 2015-2016 St. Anna Tiger Yearbook is NOW on sale! Don’t miss out on preserving the memories of another exciting and busy school year. Please fill out and return the order form. The deadline to order your yearbook is Monday, March 21st.
I’ve had some inquiries on the increase on the cost of this year’s book. The cost of the book has increased as we use a custom cover and we have added more pages to incorporate more of our amazing events and we sell less than 100 books. The cost of the book to produce is $43. We are able to provide the book for $30 through the selling of 8th grade and business ads. The cost of the St. Anna Yearbook has not increased in the past 10 years.
ST. ANNA GOLF TOURNAMENT The St. Anna Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 18th at the Townsend Ridge Country Club. Over 140 golfers have registered. Download theentry form or register online here!
'A MEDIEVAL KNIGHT' - THE 18TH ANNUAL GALA Our annual Gala is the school’s major fundraiser which in the past five years alone, has contributed over $160,000 to our school. Whether you have attended, made donations, purchased raffle tickets or participated in the silent auction, please know your contributions are appreciated. But, your continued support is needed. The Gala is on Saturday, April 9th at the Knights of Columbus, Leominster. Our theme is “A Medieval Knight” and we will be honoring members of the Knights of Columbus and the memory of Mrs. Madeline Girouard.
You will enjoy a wonderful evening including appetizers, dinner and an array of delicious desserts with coffee to conclude the evening. Music will be provided by DJ Ray Richard and there will be a dedication ceremony honoring the members of the Knights of Columbus and the memory of Mrs. Madeline Girouard. There are over 30 raffle items including two Instant Wine Bars, Walt Disney World Park Hopper Passes, Dandini Dumpster and more. Our silent auction features Celtics tickets, Airplane Ride over the Quabbin and Cupcake Decorating Party from Aunty Ellen’s Creative Confections.

LIVING STATIONS OF THE CROSSThe middle school students will be presenting the Living Stations of the Cross at our weekly Mass on Wednesday, March 23rd at 9:00am. They will also be doing an encore presentation on Good Friday at 3:30pm.
AMERICANISM AWARD WINNERS Congratulations to our Elks Club Americanism Award Winners for their winning essays;
Emma Landry, Jan Jacob & Michael Kroll. They will be recognized at an award ceremony at the Elks Club on March 14th at 7:00. All are welcome to attend. Their essays have been entered into the state level contest. Good Luck!
EASTER MONDAY- No SchoolThere will be no school on Easter Monday. St. Anna’s will be closed on Friday, March 25th for Good Friday and Monday, March 28th for Easter Monday.
THEATRE AT THE MOUNT- HOW I BECAME A PIRATEStudents in grades K-8 will be attending the Theatre at the Mount play “How I Became A Pirate” at Gardner High School on Friday, April 15th at 9:30. Two of our own students (Mary & Elizabeth) will be performing in the play. We will be traveling by bus and need to leave school by 8:45. Students will be dropped off at school at 8:15 that day. The cost of the trip is $10 to help cover the cost of the ticket and a portion of the bus (we need 4 busses!!). The PTO will help pay the additional bus costs. STEM Beginnings Wednesdays 3:15-4:15 for Preschool and Kindergarten students
