Dear SACS Families, Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and vacation with your families. We quickly got back to our busy routine at school. We’ve been learning about Little Christmas, Epiphany and the Three Kings as we celebrate the end of the Christmas season. Father did remind us this week that we can celebrate Christmas all year long when we share our love of God with others throughout the year.
The New Year brings lots of exciting happenings at school. Many classes are counting down to the 100th day of school as well as preparing for the upcoming Catholic Schools Week (January 31-February 5) Please remember there is a half day of school next week, Friday, January 15th with dismissal at 11:30. This is for professional development. The teachers will again be working with Bill Attwood in their classrooms during the day and after school on implementing writing strategies into the curriculum. EXTENDED CAREMiss Amanda Refrigeri (our 4th grade aide) will be running the afternoon Extended Care program beginning January 19th. You may have seen her this week working a little with Mrs. Pratt to get to know everyone and the routine. You may see some changes to the afternoon programming. Extended Care will be open on the Early Dismissal Day Friday, January 15th. Please let Mrs. Pratt know ahead of time if your child(ren) will be attending. It is $35 ($17.50 per sibling) for the afternoon. A bag lunch is needed as no lunch is served on early dismissal days. OPEN HOUSE-ALL ARE WELCOMEWe will start Catholic Schools Week off with an Open House. We’d love everyone to come see what all the excitement is about. The Open House will be held after the 10:00 Mass (11:00-12:00) on Sunday, January 31st. This is for current families, potential families and parishioners. We’d love the opportunity to show off what the students have been learning at school this year. We also invite all of our current students to show their St. Anna pride and attend the 10:00 Mass. You can wear your uniform, or anything that shows your pride- St. Anna basketball uniform, cross country shirts, sweatshirts. We want everyone at church to see how proud you are to attend St. Anna School. DRESS CODEPlease remember that we are in the winter dress season. Students can only wear shorts for gym class if they have the correct sweatpants to wear over them when they are not in gym class. Students are also only allowed to wear St. Anna sweatshirts or sweaters in the building during the day. The Under Armor sweatshirts and others are ok for when they are outside at recess but not in class. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate footwear and they follow the out of dress guidelines on non-uniform days. Students who do not follow the dress code will be given a uniform violation. SWEATSHIRT ORDERSLast call to order your Saint Anna Spirit Wear! We need a few more sweatshirt orders so we can place our order! If you’d like to order one, please return thesweatshirt order to school or contact Mrs. Priddy for more information. #MAKE A DIFFERENCEThe Year of Mercy is going strong at St. Anna School. The students are continuing to learn about both corporal and spiritual works of mercy. The second grade will focus on a corporal work of mercy as they collect items to help feed the hungry. If you have any old button down shirts (They work best) you can donate, please send them into the office and we’ll get them to the art room. BASKETBALL SEASON IS HERE!All of our basketball schedules are posted on the website. Come cheer on our students at one of their games this season. We can also use help at our concession stand and/or admissions table throughout the season. We ask that parents of players try to volunteer for 2 hours during the season. If you volunteer, you will earn a season pass that will get you into all of the games played at St. Anna’s. Parents who do not volunteer will need to pay the admissions fee of $3 per game. If your child is not playing, but you would still LOVE to sign up to help at the concessions- we welcome your help! You can sign up to help on-line or by signing up at the concession stand any Saturday. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Q7xkOwIOjhkDQ-qAMtxLy21hRUkz13Dq_U8q6ICRCUw/edit?usp=sharing If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Saladini-csaladini@stannaleom.org FRIENDS OF ST ANNA/PTO UPDATES: (email us at PTO@stannaleom.org)
